Dawkins: Bills 'know what they're doing' following Diggs trade

Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins is confident his team can still compete following the departures of multiple key contributors.

"The Stefon Diggs one, it was definitely a haymaker," Dawkins said on "The Jim Rome Show" on Friday. "A blind haymaker. But, you know, I have learned that in this world, in this career that I'm in, that pieces shuffle and things move around all of the time."

He added: "I am loyal to my organization. So I trust them. I think that they know what they're doing. I know that they know what they're doing. But we got (No.) 17, and when you got Josh (Allen), anything is possible, truly."

Diggs racked up four consecutive 1,100 receiving-yard seasons with Buffalo since being acquired in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings in 2020. However, Diggs had the worst stretch of his Bills tenure in the second half of the 2024 season.

The 30-year-old didn't eclipse seven receptions in a single contest after Week 9 and failed to have a 100-yard receiving game following Week 6. Buffalo's offense became a run-first scheme later in the season, with the club ranking third in rushing attempts per contest last campaign.

Despite throwing 18 interceptions, Allen still had a productive year. He totaled 4,830 yards with 44 touchdowns and ranked third in EPA/play out of 30 qualified quarterbacks, according to Ben Baldwin's database.

"As long as Josh is at quarterback, that's what I can talk for. (Sean) McDermott is our coach, and the Pegulas is our owner, and (Brandon) Beane is our GM, that window is open forever," Dawkins said.

The Bills also lost Jordan Poyer, Tre'Davious White, and Micah Hyde and will look to use their 10 picks in the upcoming draft to fill holes on the roster.
