Bears' Moore wants Allen extended: 'Let's get it done'
After D.J. Moore signed a big deal with the Bears on Tuesday, the Chicago wideout is now pushing for an extension for teammate Keenan Allen.
"I already did that now. I did that yesterday," Moore said when asked if he'd reached out to Allen about an extension, per Courtney Cronin of ESPN.
Moore added: "I was like, 'Man, listen, what's your number? Let's get it done.' ... I think we can get it done."
Allen is entering the final year of a four-year, $80-million extension he signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. Chicago acquired the veteran wideout for a fourth-round pick in March.
"I'm going to let the play speak for itself, and if they offer me something that I like, we'll go from there," Allen said in June, according to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times.
The 32-year-old had a productive 2023 despite only playing in 13 games, totaling 108 catches on 150 targets, 1,243 yards, and seven touchdowns.
Moore cashed in Tuesday, inking a massive four-year, $110-million deal with $82.6 million guaranteed. He racked up 1,364 receiving yards in his first campaign with Chicago, the most from a Bear since Alshon Jeffery had 1,421 in 2013. Moore also totaled 96 receptions and eight touchdowns.
The 27-year-old's $27.5-million average annual salary is now the sixth highest in the league, per Over The Cap. Moore's new pact comes after A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, Justin Jefferson, and Amon-Ra St. Brown, among others, received lucrative extensions.
"You've got to follow it," Moore said of other wideouts signing new deals, per Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. "They've all been breaking new heights, going to ($35 million per season), but I wasn't really in that mindset to go to the top-top. I was just like, 'What's a good number? Let's go from there.'"
