Parsons: 'No doubt' Lamb will suit up for Cowboys in Week 1
Standout pass-rusher Micah Parsons is confident CeeDee Lamb will be in the starting lineup for the Dallas Cowboys' season opener on Sept. 8 despite the receiver's ongoing holdout.
"CeeDee is a part of the brotherhood whether he likes it or not," Parsons said, according to ESPN's Todd Archer.
"He knows he's not going nowhere. The business side, they going to take care of him. But obviously, we miss him. I mean, he's one of the best people you can have in a locker room, and I'm pretty sure he'll be here soon because, no doubt about it, Week 1, he will be suited up for the Dallas Cowboys."
Lamb has accumulated nearly $1 million in fines after missing June's mandatory minicamp, training camp, and the team's first preseason game last weekend, per Archer. The All-Pro is subject to a $40,000 fine for each day in training camp that he skips, but the Cowboys can rescind the penalties since he's still on his rookie contract.
Lamb is set to enter his fifth season in Dallas and earn $17.9 million in the final year of his rookie contract.
The three-time Pro Bowl wideout appears to be a candidate to become one of the NFL's highest-paid receivers following an impressive 2023 campaign. Lamb led the league with 135 receptions and posted career highs of 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns last season.
Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said last week that the team didn't "have any urgency" to reach an extension with Lamb. However, he tried to clarify his stance ahead of Dallas' preseason opener Sunday by saying that Lamb is "missed."
Despite Lamb not practicing with the team, the Cowboys coaching staff believes it won't take the 25-year-old long to get re-acclimated after the sides reach an agreement.
"You just make time to get done what you need to get done, that's how I look at CeeDee when he gets here," head coach Mike McCarthy said. "We know CeeDee is always going to be in great shape and so forth."
The Cowboys have also been negotiating an extension with quarterback Dak Prescott, who can become an unrestricted free agent after the 2024 season.
