Report: Lions acquire Za'Darius Smith from Browns
The Detroit Lions are acquiring edge rusher Za'Darius Smith from the Cleveland Browns, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Detroit will also reportedly get a 2026 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2025 fifth-rounder and a 2026 sixth-round selection.
The Lions have been in the market for a pass-rusher after losing star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson for the season to a broken fibula and tibia in October.
Outside of Hutchinson, the Lions don't have a player with three or more sacks this season. The club ranks 25th in pressure rate heading into Week 10.
Smith was traded to the Browns from the Minnesota Vikings in 2023. He signed a two-year, $23-million extension with Cleveland this offseason and is under contract through the 2025 campaign.
The 32-year-old has 26 pressures, seven quarterback hits, and five sacks in nine games this year.
