Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shad Khan believes this year's club is the finest team the organization has ever constructed.

"Make no mistake, this is the best team assembled by the Jacksonville Jaguars, ever," Khan said, according to Grant Gordon of NFL Network. "Best players, best coaches. But most importantly, let's prove it by winning now."

He added: "And let me just repeat, winning now is the expectation."

Khan has spent significant money to build the roster, ranking third in spending for the 2024 season, per Spotrac. Jacksonville also spent the most money in the league this offseason on free agents, extensions, and draft picks.

The team's additions this offseason include veteran defensive tackle Arik Armstead, who signed a three-year, $43.5-million deal after being released by the San Francisco 49ers, and wide receiver Gabe Davis, who inked a three-year deal worth $39 million after spending the first four years of his career with the Buffalo Bills.

The organization's biggest move, however, was signing quarterback Trevor Lawrence to a five-year, $275-million extension with $200 million guaranteed. His $55-million annual salary ties him as the highest-paid signal caller in the league with Joe Burrow and Jordan Love.

Lawrence is 21-31 in 52 career starts in both the regular season and playoffs since he was selected first overall by Jacksonville in the 2021 draft, and he boasts 12,275 career passing yards with 63 touchdowns and 44 interceptions.

"He's right, the opportunity's right in front of us," head coach Doug Pederson said about Khan's comments on succeeding now. "It's about winning. We're in this business to win and to win now. And that's our goal each and every day, as we strive. Does it mean we're gonna be perfect? No, but we're gonna strive for greatness."

Jacksonville has had three winning seasons in the last 16 years and gone 85-174 in that time. The club kicks off its 2024 campaign on Sept. 8 against the Miami Dolphins.
