Lamar not seeking revenge against Chiefs: 'I just want to win'

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson isn't seeking payback as he prepares for Thursday's season opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.

"Any game I play in, I feel like it's a revenge game," Jackson said. "So I'm not going to just look at this game as a revenge game. Anybody we've played, no matter if we beat them or lost to them (in) previous years, I just want to win."

The Ravens had their Super Bowl LVIII dreams dashed by the Chiefs during last year's AFC Championship Game. After finishing the season 13-4 and with the league's top rushing attack, Baltimore managed just 81 yards on 16 carries in a 17-10 loss.

"I'm (going to) approach this like any other game," Jackson said. "It's the start of the season. We've got to make a great impression for the first game of the season."

Jackson is set to embark on his second year under offensive coordinator Todd Monken after passing for a career-high 3,678 yards last season. He enters the 2024 campaign with a healthy Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman, as well as four-time Pro Bowl tailback Derrick Henry in the backfield.

Regardless of his season-opening opponent, Jackson is eager to get the Ravens' pursuit of a Super Bowl title underway.

"I'm ready to go," he said. "I've been going against my guys for weeks. It's time to go against someone else."
