Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts took responsibility for the team's 33-16 loss versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

"Overall, I just have to play better," Hurst said postgame, according to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP. "We get down like we did, I have to help the defense out. ... It starts with me getting in the end zone and leading drives, and I didn't do a good enough job."

The Eagles' offense didn't register a single yard in the first quarter. Philadelphia struggled to move the ball all game, averaging 4.1 yards per play with only 23:43 minutes in time of possession. Hurts completed 18 of 30 passes for 158 yards with one touchdown and was sacked six times.

Philadelphia was at Tampa Bay's 19-yard line down 14 points in the third quarter when Hurts was strip-sacked. The Buccaneers recovered the ball, all but icing the game.

The 26-year-old has 27 turnovers in his last 22 games dating back to last season and has turned the ball over in nine straight contests.

The Eagles haven't won the turnover battle in 12 straight games and are 4-8 during that span. Their minus-six turnover ratio ranks 31st in the NFL, behind only the Tennessee Titans.

"I haven't done a good enough job. ... Last year, we weren't great at the turnover battle, and this year, we're not," head coach Nick Sirianni said, per Jeff Skversky. "Everything, scheme, fundamentals, will be evaluated. ... It's not sustainable when you don't win the turnover battle."

Hurts didn't have A.J. Brown (hamstring), DeVonta Smith (concussion), or Lane Johnson (concussion) at his disposal Sunday. The Eagles are entering the bye week, and their next game is against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 13.
