The NFL fined San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa $11,255 for violating its uniform and equipment rules by wearing a cap that contained a personal message, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Bosa put on a "Make America Great Again" hat that supported U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump at the end of Sunday Night Football on Oct. 27.

The NFL rulebook states: "Throughout the period on gameday that a player is visible to the stadium and television audience (including in pregame warmups, in the bench area, and during postgame interviews in the locker room or on the field), players are prohibited from wearing, displaying, or otherwise conveying personal messages either in writing or illustration, unless such message has been approved in advance by the League office."

The 49ers star acknowledged the possibility of a fine afterward, saying any financial penalty would be "worth it."

A Pro Bowler the last three years, Bosa has 4.5 sacks in eight appearances in 2024.

San Francisco will face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Bosa finished the week with a questionable designation due to a hip injury.
