Bengals' Taylor has no issue with Chase's criticism
Head coach Zac Taylor isn't taking any issue with Ja'Marr Chase after the star wideout pointed at the coaching staff for the Cincinnati Bengals' loss to the Los Angeles Chargers last weekend.
"I don't ever hold it against a player when they're, after a game, having an emotional response," Taylor said, per ESPN's Ben Baby. "We'll just continue to move forward as a team but love working with him. Thankful that he's on our team."
Chase made his frustrations clear when asked how the Bengals can better finish games following their failed comeback in a 34-27 defeat on Sunday Night Football.
"Ask (head coach Zac Taylor), ask the coaches," Chase said. "Don't ask me, that's not my job."
He added: "I play football on the field, I don't call plays for us. I can't really do nothing."
The Bengals are 1-6 in one-score games this season.
Chase has been one of the bright spots during Cincinnati's 4-7 campaign. The three-time Pro Bowler leads the league with 73 receptions, 1,056 yards, and 12 touchdowns through 11 games.
"I feel very confident we put Ja'Marr in the best position possible to succeed," Taylor said. "He's first in every category there is. We make a conscious effort to involve him and make sure he's always a big part of that."
Quarterback Joe Burrow also leads the NFL in multiple categories, including passing yards (3,028) and touchdowns (27). However, he described the 2024 campaign as the most frustrating season of his career.
The Bengals will host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec. 1 after their bye week.
