Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown is likely to return before the end of the regular season after suffering a shoulder injury in August, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Brown has an appointment with his surgeon in Week 15 to potentially get cleared for a return to practice. If all goes well, the wideout could play in Weeks 16 or 17, Rapoport adds.

The 27-year-old suffered a dislocated sternoclavicular joint during a preseason game. He was placed on injured reserve in September and was expected to be sidelined until January.

Kansas City signed Brown to a one-year, $7-million deal in free agency. He spent the previous two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals before landing with the Chiefs. The Baltimore Ravens selected Brown in the first round of the 2019 draft.

The Oklahoma product would add some play-making ability to a Chiefs wide receiver room that lost Rashee Rice to a season-ending injury in early October. Kansas City also acquired DeAndre Hopkins before the trade deadline to bolster the pass-catcher room. Despite having star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the team ranks 23rd in yards per reception, according to ESPN.

Brown has 313 receptions for 3,644 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns in 72 career games.
