Deion asks Raiders' Pierce to 'draft those Sanders boys' in resurfaced video
Deion Sanders asked Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce to do him a favor at an event in Las Vegas.
"You are truly the best," the Colorado coach says to Pierce in a resurfaced video. "Now I just need you to do one thing: I need you to draft those Sanders boys."
Deion's sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders, are set to enter the 2025 NFL Draft. Shedeur is projected to be a top-five pick after a tremendous last two seasons at Colorado.
Shedeur posted a video of the Raiders' Allegiant Stadium on his Instagram story Friday with the caption "legendary."
The 22-year-old signal-caller broke the single-season Buffaloes passing record this campaign, throwing for 3,926 passing yards with 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also led the Big 12 in completion percentage (74.2%) and passer rating (168.8).
Shilo, 24, isn't projected as an elite prospect and could go undrafted. The defensive back racked up 129 tackles, five forced fumbles, and one interception in 20 games at Colorado.
The Raiders would hold the second overall pick in the draft if the NFL season ended today. Las Vegas has lost eight consecutive games after starting the season 2-2 and currently sits 2-10 heading into Sunday's contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Las Vegas has struggled to get consistent quarterback play this season. Its offense ranks 27th in EPA per dropback, and the team doesn't have a clear solution to solidify the position for the future. Gardner Minshew is under contract through the 2025 campaign, but the Raiders can save money if they release him this offseason.
Aidan O'Connell is coming off a solid game against the Kansas City Chiefs, but he's had an up-and-down start to his career after being selected in the fourth round of the 2023 draft.
Pierce is in his first full season as Raiders head coach after holding the interim title for nine games in 2023 following Josh McDaniels' dismissal, totaling a 7-14 record in 21 games.
