Report: Raiders' O'Connell has bone bruise in knee, not ruled out for MNF
An MRI confirmed Monday that Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Aidan O'Connell suffered a bone bruise in his knee Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The signal-caller was carted off the field, and his leg was placed in an air cast. However, O'Connell hasn't been ruled out for Monday Night Football versus the Atlanta Falcons, Rapoport adds.
O'Connell was injured in the third quarter after being pushed down when he attempted a pass outside the pocket. He was ruled out for the game shortly after.
Desmond Ridder replaced him, completing 12 of 18 passes for 101 yards. Las Vegas ultimately lost 28-13.
Head coach Antonio Pierce said earlier Monday that the team was waiting on MRI results for O'Connell, but he expected Ridder to start against the Falcons, according to Tashan Reed of The Athletic.
The Raiders fell to 2-11 on Sunday. If the season were to end today, they would hold the top pick in the 2025 draft, according to Tankathon.
O'Connell has 899 passing yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions this season.
