Report: Carroll interested in Bears coaching vacancy
Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is interested in becoming the next coach of the Chicago Bears, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The 73-year-old hasn't spoken to any teams yet, but he's eyeing a return to the sidelines next season, Schefter adds. The Bears, Saints, and Jets are the three clubs currently with head coaching vacancies.
Carroll and the Seahawks mutually agreed to part ways following the 2023 season. He remained with the team in an advisery role this campaign. Carroll went 137-89-1 and won Super Bowl XLVIII during a successful 14-year run as Seahawks coach.
The Bears fired coach Matt Eberflus on Nov. 29 after a 4-8 start to the season. Thomas Brown took over on an interim basis and is winless in three games.
The Bears are set to miss the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season and haven't posted a winning record since claiming the NFC North in 2018 after a 12-4 regular season.
