Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is battling soreness ahead of Sunday's game against the New York Giants.

"He was sore all week, really sore," head coach Shane Steichen said, per team reporter JJ Stankevitz. "So we were being smart there."

The Colts listed Richardson as questionable on the team's final injury report released on Friday.

The 22-year-old didn't practice during the week due to back and foot injuries. He played every snap in last week's 38-30 win against the Tennessee Titans and tallied a career-high 70 rushing yards in the contest.

Steichen said Saturday's results involving the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos will not impact his team's decision on Richardson's availability. Both AFC West clubs can clinch a playoff berth with victories before the Colts take the field at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

Indianapolis remains in contention for a playoff spot in the AFC but needs to win its final games and get some additional help.

Quarterback Joe Flacco will make his fifth start of the season Sunday if Richardson is unavailable.

Richardson has thrown for 1,814 yards, eight touchdowns, and 12 interceptions this season, with a 61.6 passer rating. The dual-threat passer has eclipsed his rushing total from his rookie campaign, racking up 499 yards and six scores on the ground.
