Multiple teams have been doing extensive homework on Jon Gruden for potential head coaching vacancies, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

Gruden has not held a coaching position since he resigned as Las Vegas Raiders head boss after unprofessional emails containing homophobic and misogynistic remarks were leaked during an investigation into the Washington Commanders and former owner Dan Snyder.

The New Orleans Saints reportedly spoke with Gruden about adding him to their staff last January. He could've taken the Saints' offensive coordinator job, if he wanted it, Pelissero adds. Gruden has instead been working as a content creator for Barstool Sports.

He served as Raiders head coach from 2018-2021, posting a 22-31 record. During the first three years of his tenure, the Raiders ranked 12th in offensive success rate, according to Ben Baldwin's database. Gruden was also the head coach of the then-Oakland Raiders from 1998-2001.

The 61-year-old has 15 years of head coaching experience. He holds a 117-112 record and won a Super Bowl with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2002 campaign.

The Chicago Bears, New York Jets, and New Orleans Saints have a head coaching vacancy heading into the final week of the NFL season.
