Report: Cowboys expected to interview Saleh for head coaching job
The Dallas Cowboys are expected to interview Robert Saleh for their vacant head coaching job, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Saleh becomes the first known candidate who Dallas has requested for an interview since parting ways with Mike McCarthy on Monday. McCarthy led the franchise to a 49-35 record over five seasons, including three consecutive playoff appearances from 2021 to 2023.
The 45-year-old has emerged as a popular candidate for other coaching openings across the league. He has already interviewed with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders in recent weeks.
A former defensive coordinator with the 49ers from 2017-2020, Saleh also spoke with San Francisco about returning to the role under head coach Kyle Shanahan.
The Jets fired Saleh after they fell to 2-3 this past season. New York posted a 20-36 mark during his tenure.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has reportedly held informal discussions with University of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, a former Dallas cornerback, but has yet to request a formal interview with the Hall of Famer.
