GB 19, BAL 17: Packers outlast Ravens in defensive battle
The Green Bay Packers came away from M&T Bank Stadium with a 19-17 victory over the Baltimore Ravens today, pushing their record to 3-2 on the season and giving them a second consecutive win.
Here's what you need to know about a contest that didn't have a touchdown until late in the third quarter, despite featuring the two highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL...
- Despite completing only 17 of 32 passes, Aaron Rodgers threw for 315 yards and made the game-changing play when he connected with Jordy Nelson for a 64-yard touchdown.
- Nelson was the only notable wide receiver on the field for Green Bay by the time the game came to an end, as the Packers lost both James Jones (leg) and Randall Cobb (knee) to injury in the opening half. While Jones' status is unknown, Cobb needed a cart to get to the locker room, and was seen on the sidelines using crutches to get around.
Rodgers-Days like today remind you why you love this game so much. It's a battle, you prepare, we found a way to make enough plays to win.

- Rookie running back Eddie Lacy cracked the 100-yard mark, doing much of his damage late in the contest and finishing with 120 yards on 23 carries.

- With the absence of star linebacker Clay Matthews, A.J. Hawk stepped up and had himself a career day, sacking Joe Flacco three times and finishing with ten sacks in total.
- His counterpart Ray Rice did not enjoy anywhere near that success, as he only recorded 34 yards. Three of those came early in the game when the Ravens were stuffed on four straight run plays from inside the Packers five-yard line.
- The loss signals the first time that Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has dropped a home game against an NFC opponent, as he was 10-0 until today during his time in Baltimore.
- Linebacker Terrell Suggs was held without a sack for the first time this season.
- With the loss, the Ravens fall to 3-3 on the season ahead of a divisional matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers next week.
