Ex-NFLer McCoy: It's time for Rodgers 'to give it up'
One of Aaron Rodgers' former competitors thinks it's time for him to call it a career.
Retired running back LeSean McCoy, who played 12 seasons in the NFL, delivered a message to Rodgers after the New York Jets announced Thursday that the quarterback won't be returning to the team in 2025.
"Tie the cleats up and you throw them high, right? You throw them high up there on the little wire. It's time to give it up," McCoy said on FS1's "The Facility." "Real talk, though: he's too great to go through this. Imagine Tom (Brady) going through this. Imagine Peyton (Manning) going through this. Patrick Mahomes? He in that group, right? ... Don't go out like this.
"Packers, it didn't end well over there. You come to the Jets, you had a lot of demands and you gave them less wins than Zach Wilson. You're a four-time MVP and a one-time Super Bowl winner. Go out on a high end, dawg, please. Because I played against Aaron Rodgers. I used to love his game. He used to be phenomenal."
Rodgers was traded to the Jets in April 2023 after 18 seasons in Green Bay, where he won a Super Bowl championship, Super Bowl MVP, and four NFL MVP awards.
The 41-year-old started all 17 games for the Jets last season and completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
