Report: Cowboys' Martin plans to retire after 11-year career
Dallas Cowboys guard Zack Martin informed the franchise he plans to retire after an 11-year NFL career, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Martin was selected in the first round of the 2014 draft and spent his entire career with the Cowboys. He earned seven first-team and two second-team All-Pro honors. His seven first-team nods are tied for the most by any guard in league history.
Martin's nine All-Pro nominations are two more than the number of accepted holding penalties he had throughout his career. He allowed just 20 sacks during 3,127 pass-block snaps in 11 seasons, according to PFF.
The 34-year-old suited up in only 10 games last year after undergoing season-ending ankle surgery. It was the second time in his career that he played in fewer than 14 contests in a single campaign.
The Notre Dame Product is considered one of the best offensive linemen of his era and is projected to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Martin finishes his NFL career with 162 games played.
