Bills sign Shakir to 4-year extension worth up to $60M
The Buffalo Bills and wide receiver Khalil Shakir have agreed to a four-year extension, the team announced Tuesday.
The contract is worth up to $60.2 million and includes $32 million guaranteed at signing, his agency told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
The deal ties Shakir to Buffalo through the 2029 campaign. He was set to enter the last year of his rookie contract prior to the extension.
The 25-year-old has spent three seasons with the Bills after the club selected him in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Shakir was MVP Josh Allen's top weapon this past season. He led the Bills in targets (100), receptions (76), and receiving yards (821) while scoring four touchdowns, all career highs. Shakir added 18 catches for 174 yards across three playoff contests.
Buffalo bolstered its wide receiver corps around Shakir over the past year, drafting Keon Coleman in the second round of the 2024 draft and signing Curtis Samuel to a three-year contract last offseason.
The Bills also acquired Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns during the campaign, but he's set to enter free agency next month alongside Mack Hollins.
The franchise has other key young players to potentially negotiate with this offseason, with running back James Cook, linebacker Terrel Bernard, and pass-rusher Greg Rousseau all entering the final year of their respective contracts.
Cook recently said he didn't want to be "a cancer" amid his pursuit of an extension but seemed to indicate he's looking to be among the league's highest-paid backs at $15 million a year.
