Titans, Browns split on what Travis Hunter's primary position will be
The top two teams in the 2025 NFL Draft seem to be split on what Travis Hunter's primary position will be in the pros.
Hunter is set to be one of the top players selected after a decorated college career in which he won the Heisman Trophy playing both wide receiver and cornerback.
The Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns hold the draft's first and second picks, respectively. Although the teams agree on Hunter's special versatility, they differ on where he's likely to line up the most in the NFL.
"In terms of Travis Hunter, cornerback or receiver, the answer is yes," Browns general manager Andrew Berry told reporters at the combine Tuesday. "He can play both, and I think that's what makes him special. We would see him as a receiver primarily."
Berry added: "Again, what makes him a bit of a unicorn is the fact he can do both at a high level."
Meanwhile, Titans head coach Brian Callahan dubbed it "very realistic" that the young star plays both ways, but he thinks Hunter will start at CB and then be worked in at WR, according to NFL.com's Kevin Patra.
The 21-year-old is listed as a cornerback for this week's NFL Scouting Combine.
Hunter played 713 snaps on defense and 709 on offense in his final season at Colorado. He caught 92 passes for 1,152 yards and 14 touchdowns while tallying four interceptions.
He won the Chuck Bednarik Award as college football's top defensive player and the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the nation's best receiver.
