Broncos general manager George Paton hopes Denver can sign wide receiver Courtland Sutton to a contract extension.

"Courtland is one of our guys," Patton said at the NFL combine Tuesday, according to the Denver Post's Troy Renck. "Team captain. I have said this for a couple of years in a row. We want him here.

"We will have those discussions at the right time. We will meet with his agent here."

Sutton is entering the final season of a four-year, $60.8-million extension he signed in 2021. He's set to carry a $20.2-million cap hit next season and has no guaranteed money remaining, according to Over The Cap.

The 29-year-old agreed to a revised two-year contract in July, which saw him earn $1.5 million in additional incentives. Teams reportedly inquired about the wide receiver last spring, but the Broncos declined to trade him.

Sutton led Denver in targets (135), receptions (81), receiving yards (1,081), and touchdowns (eight) in 2024.

"We felt like he had a really good season," head coach Sean Payton said Tuesday. "He is important to what we are doing. All of those (discussions with the agent) will happen in time."

Sutton has been with the Broncos since they drafted him in the second round in 2018. The SMU product has 5,340 yards and 32 touchdowns in 98 career games.
