The Cleveland Browns are interested in quarterback Carson Wentz as a bridge option, and the feeling is mutual, a source told Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.

A deal with the 32-year-old Wentz would be contingent on Cleveland's pursuit of free-agent signal-caller Russell Wilson, Cabot reports.

Wentz spent last season backing up Patrick Mahomes and started the Chiefs' regular-season finale against the Denver Broncos.

The North Dakota State product is looking to play for a sixth club in as many seasons. Wentz had stints with the Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams, and Chiefs after beginning his career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wentz has started 94 of his 98 career games and thrown for 22,410 yards, 153 touchdowns, and 67 interceptions with a 62.7% completion rate.

The New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers are among other clubs interested in signing Wilson. Both teams are reportedly awaiting a decision from four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers.

Cleveland has been exploring QB options this offseason, as Deshaun Watson is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2025 campaign after rupturing his Achilles tendon. The Browns acquired Kenny Pickett from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a fifth-round pick in a quarterback swap.

The Browns could also opt to draft a passer with the No. 2 pick next month. The club has $10 million in cap space with Watson carrying a $36.9-million cap hit in 2025, per Over the Cap.
