The Philadelphia Eagles selected Alabama linebacker Jihaad Campbell in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 31st overall.

The Eagles traded up one spot to choose Campbell, sending the No. 32 overall pick and a fifth-round selection (No. 164 overall) to the Kansas City Chiefs.

The reigning Super Bowl champions add a versatile piece to a disruptive defensive unit. Campbell can work as an off-ball defender but also provides experience as an edge rusher.

He led Alabama with 117 tackles and 11.5 tackles for loss to be named a first-team All-SEC member in 2024.

Pre-draft profile

Campbell is the top linebacker in this draft and a slam-dunk first-round talent. He's an explosive athlete who is relentless in pursuit, demonstrating speed and range from the second level. He offers an ideal skill set in the passing game, as he plays with good instincts in coverage, provides pass-rush value as a blitzer, and even has the ability to kick out and get after the quarterback off the edge.

Campbell navigates traffic well as a run defender and has the lateral agility and hand usage to defeat blocks and make a play on the ball. He also plays with the physicality and tenacity to take on climbing linemen. He'll likely need to improve his processing speed in the run game to consistently get downhill on time. A post-combine surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder could put his summer availability in question, but there's just so much to like here. Campbell could be a Pro Bowl regular before long.
