The New York Jets are picking up the fifth-year options on cornerback Sauce Gardner, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, and pass-rusher Jermaine Johnson, general manager Darren Mougey announced Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
New York selected the trio in the first round of the 2022 draft (Gardner fourth overall, Wilson 10th, and Johnson 26th). They're entering the fourth season of their respective NFL careers and are now under contract through the 2026 campaign.
Gardner's fifth-year option is worth $20.1 million, while Wilson will earn $16.8 million and Johnson will get $13.4 million, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Gardner was immediately one of the sport's best defenders upon entering the league. He won Defensive Rookie of the Year and was selected as a first-team All-Pro in each of his first two seasons. Gardner had a down year in 2024, with PFF grading him as the NFL's 47th-ranked cornerback.
Wilson has led New York in receptions and receiving yards in all three years of his career and was named Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2022. Wilson had a career-high 101 receptions, 1,104 yards, and seven touchdowns this past season.
Johnson was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2023 as an alternate after tallying 7.5 sacks in his sophomore season. He tore his Achilles in Week 2 in 2024 and missed the rest of the campaign.
The Jets are looking to end their league-worst 14-year playoff drought under a new regime in 2025. New York hired Aaron Glenn to be its head coach, Mougey as general manager, and signed quarterback Justin Fields after releasing Aaron Rodgers.
