NFL to roll out new 'Rivalries' uniforms starting this year
The NFL will begin rolling out a new series of alternate uniforms dubbed the "Rivalries" program this season, Nike and the NFL announced.
The initiative is the NFL's first major occasional uniform series since the polarizing "Color Rush" program began in 2015. The "Rivalries" concept is reportedly similar to the "City Edition" and "City Connect" uniforms sported by NBA and MLB teams for select games.
Nike and the NFL described the new uniforms as "rooted extensively in local community insights."
Each NFL team will be required to wear the jerseys for one home game against a divisional rival each season over a three-year stretch. Because they can only be worn by home teams, no games will feature two competing "Rivalries" uniforms.
The initial batch of 2025 "Rivalries" uniforms will cover the AFC East and NFC West. CBS Sports' Jonathan Jones reports they're expected to be publicly unveiled over the summer.
The AFC South and NFC North will join the program in 2026, the NFC East and AFC West will enter in 2027, and the AFC North and NFC South will complete the program in 2028.
