Ryan Mathews after big game on Sunday: Go interview the linemen
After rushing for a season-high 110 yards and scoring his first touchdown of the season on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews was quick to turn the attention towards the job done by his offensive line.
When reporters approached the 26-year-old after the contest, Mathews stopped them and insisted that they shift their attention to the big men up front.
“Interview the linemen,” Mathews was quoted as saying by U-T San Diego. “They deserve some credit. Go get them. Give them their time to shine.”
The Chargers line did a great job on the day despite multiple injuries, and were just as solid in the passing game, as quarterback Philip Rivers was sacked just once.
