Report: Steelers' Heyward wants raise, hasn't fully participated in practices

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward hasn't fully participated in practices this summer due to his desire for a restructured contract, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Heyward is scheduled to make $14.75 million this season with $13.45 million of it already paid out in a roster bonus, Schefter adds. The two sides reportedly haven't made any progress on a revised deal.

The 36-year-old signed an extension last offseason that locks him up through the 2026 campaign. His $14.75-million average annual salary makes him the NFL's 22nd highest-paid interior defensive lineman, according to Over the Cap.

Pittsburgh dished out large contracts this offseason to T.J. Watt and newly acquired wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Heyward has continued to play at a high level despite his age. He earned first-team All-Pro honors last season after totaling 71 tackles and eight sacks in 17 contests. He's been with the Steelers since they selected him in the first round of the 2011 draft.
