Bucs' Schiano has epiphany, realizes Revis is good in man coverage

At long last, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appear ready to make the move fans of the team have been clamoring for all season and begin using cornerback Darrelle Revis primarily in man coverage, where he's excelled throughout his NFL career.

The Buccaneers traded first- and third-round draft picks for Revis early this year, but the team has repeatedly used him in zone coverage this season -- a coverage scheme that doesn't exactly play to his strengths.

Head coach Greg Schiano apparently had an epiphany (maybe he cleaned out his ears and finally heard the thousands of fans screaming at him), and he indicated the Buccaneers will consider changing how they deploy Revis moving forward.

"We need to make sure we’re accentuating our best players, putting them in the best position to make plays better than we have," Schiano said, via Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune. "That’s something I’ve looked at hard, and I know our coaches have looked at it as well."

At 0-7, the Buccaneers might as well consider making changes -- especially if those changes involve making decisions they should have made in the first place.
