Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens, who's playing on the final year of his contract, said he's open to signing an extension to remain in Dallas.

"I wouldn't mind it," Pickens told reporters Wednesday, according to The Athletic's Jon Machota. "The guys in the locker room are super cool. The energy is great. I always want to showcase my talents."

Pickens' comments on possibly staying with the Cowboys come a day after owner and general manager Jerry Jones declined to commit to a long-term deal for him.

"We'll weigh that," Jones said Tuesday of a potential Pickens extension, according to Todd Brock of Cowboys Wire. "We knew full well if things really went like we want them to go that certainly we need to think about having some room available if we're going to pay a second receiver at that level."

Jones added: "He is doing more than we did expect or that we could have expected. And what's really special is he's a real plus to have around the team. He's a real plus around his teammates. He's a great plus around those coaches."

Dallas acquired Pickens and a 2027 sixth-round pick in May from the Pittsburgh Steelers for third- and fifth-round selections. He's set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason after finishing out his rookie deal.

The 24-year-old wideout is on pace for a career year, totaling 32 receptions on 48 targets for 525 receiving yards and six touchdowns. His average receiving yards per game (87.5) ranks fourth in the NFL behind only Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Puka Nacua, and Justin Jefferson.

Even with star receiver CeeDee Lamb missing the last three games, Pickens has helped the Cowboys' offense lead the league in EPA/play through six contests, according to Ben Baldwin's database.

However, Dallas is 2-3-1 heading into Week 7 and is coming off a 30-27 loss to the Carolina Panthers. The Cowboys sit third in the NFC East behind the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders, whom they'll face Sunday.

"Definitely winning," Pickens said when asked what's most important to him regarding his NFL future, according to Machota. "Just because that's been my resume the whole time. I won in high school, I won at Georgia. Definitely winning, I always think about winning."
