Saints make Shough their starting QB
The New Orleans Saints are making rookie Tyler Shough their starting quarterback, the team announced Tuesday.
Shough, 26, was selected in the second round of the 2025 draft. He will make his first career start against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday.
Spencer Rattler, who started the first eight games of the season and went 1-7, was benched in the third quarter of New Orleans' loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.
Rattler turned the ball over twice against the Bucs, and one of those mistakes was a pick-6. The 25-year-old was coming off a 26-14 defeat by the Chicago Bears in which he threw three interceptions. Out of 31 qualifying quarterbacks this season, Rattler ranks 25th in EPA/play, according to Ben Baldwin's database.
Shough completed 17 of 30 passes for 128 yards and one interception after Rattler was pulled Sunday. The Louisville product will take over an offense that sits 29th in points per game.
