Texans' Stroud will miss 2nd consecutive game with concussion

Houston Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said Thursday that quarterback C.J. Stroud will miss a second consecutive game due to the concussion he suffered in Week 9, according to ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime.

Backup Davis Mills will get the start again Sunday versus the Tennessee Titans. He led the Texans to a comeback victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend, completing 27 of 45 passes and three total touchdowns. Mills' 14-yard rushing score with under a minute left ultimately iced the contest.

Stroud suffered a concussion when his head hit the ground after getting tackled while scrambling. He exited the game against the Denver Broncos and didn't return. The 24-year-old hasn't practiced since.

Last week's contest was the first time Stroud missed a start since his rookie season in 2023, when he sat out two games due to a concussion.

The Texans are 4-5 heading into Sunday and are in third place in the AFC South behind the Jaguars and division-leading Indianapolis Colts.
