Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will start Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Dan Quinn said Friday, per ESPN's John Keim.

Daniels missed the past three games after dislocating his elbow Nov. 2 against the Seattle Seahawks.

He was upgraded to a full participant in practice Thursday and Friday. Quinn said starting Daniels this weekend was a group decision involving the team's medical staff and the quarterback himself.

Washington's coach said it's important for the second-year passer to play in the Commanders' remaining five games despite their 3-9 record.

"It's important for him, for his teammates," Quinn said. "All these (games) matter. As he's developing there are certain things he has to work on, too, to be as competitive and take care of things."

The 2024 second overall pick has been limited to six games after being named the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year. Daniels missed a pair of games after spraining his right knee Sept. 11 against the Green Bay Packers. He also missed one game after injuring his hamstring against the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 19.

Daniels has passed for 1,184 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions, while completing 62.5% of his pass attempts.
