Super Bowl betting insights: Where's the money going?
Super Bowl LX is almost here, and by now, there's been enough betting action to paint a picture of what bettors will be cheering for Sunday.
The Seahawks, who are 4.5-point favorites over the Patriots, are receiving a ton of support from the betting public. Of all the action on the game's spread, 72.9% of the handle (money wagered) and 64.1% of the bets on theScore Bet are on Seattle to cover. The spread opened with the Seahawks as 3.5-point favorites but quickly moved and has held steady at 4.5 for over a week.

Seattle is also getting love in the outright market, attracting 57.1% of the bets and 62.3% of the handle on its -230 odds. However, those splits indicate that those siding with New England would rather take the Patriots to win the game at +200 than the 4.5 points.
Opinions on the 45.5-point total are split, as 53.7% of the handle and 58.4% of the bets are on the over. This game's total is the third lowest among the last 20 Super Bowls.
While the Seahawks seem to be the preferred pick to win the title, Drake Maye (+250) is getting the most support in the MVP market. He leads all players with 23% of the handle, and Sam Darnold (+115) is a close second at 22%. Surprisingly, TreVeyon Henderson, who's fifth on the list behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba (+500) and Kenneth Walker III (+800), is considered a massive long shot at +10000 (bet $1 to win $100).
As for player props, Smith-Njigba (-120) has received the most bets to score a touchdown. Walker (-170), Maye (+260), Rhamondre Stevenson (+135), and Stefon Diggs (+260) round out the top five.
And of course, it wouldn't be a Super Bowl without people betting on some obscure props. Blue is the most popular choice for the color of Gatorade that will douse the winning head coach. Purple and yellow/lime green are also in the top three.
Over 2.5 players to throw a pass is the most bet special in terms of handle. Teams often reach deep into the playbook during the Super Bowl, and bettors are predicting that a non-quarterback (or a backup) will record a passing attempt. Wideout Cooper Kupp added fuel to the fire Friday by posting a picture of himself throwing a football on Instagram.
And finally, 53.7% of the bets on the coin flip - a true 50/50 proposition - are on tails, giving the "tails never fails" believers a narrow lead.
