The Los Angeles Rams are promoting passing game coordinator Nate Scheelhaase to offensive coordinator, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Scheelhaase will replace Mike LaFleur, who the Arizona Cardinals hired as head coach after he spent the past three years as L.A.'s offensive coordinator.

Scheelhaase, who joined head coach Sean McVay's staff as a passing game specialist in 2024, helped the Rams lead in both total yards (394.6) and points (30.5) last season. Los Angeles received positive news on Feb. 5, when reigning NFL MVP Matthew Stafford announced he would return for his 18th season.

The 35-year-old Scheelhaase garnered interest as a candidate for multiple head coaching vacancies this offseason. He reportedly interviewed with the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Las Vegas Raiders for their openings.

The Illinois native gained coaching experience at his alma mater, Illinois, before joining Iowa State, where he served as the offensive coordinator in 2023.

Rams quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone will also add the title of co-offensive coordinator, reports ESPN. Ragone joined L.A. in 2024 after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons for three seasons.
