Report: Lions to sign Pacheco as Gibbs' running mate
The Detroit Lions are signing running back Isiah Pacheco, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The 27-year-old Pacheco joins the Lions after four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.
Detroit was in the market for a complementary tailback to rising star Jahmyr Gibbs after trading David Montgomery to the Houston Texans last week.
Pacheco, known for his signature running style, rushed for a career-high 935 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023. Injuries limited the Rutgers product's playing time in the following two seasons. He averaged 3.9 yards per carry in 2025, rushing for 462 yards and one score.
The Chiefs agreed to sign Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III to a three-year, $45-million contract Monday, signaling they were ready to move on from Pacheco.
The Lions have focused on adding offensive pieces to begin free agency. Offensive linemen Larry Borom, Cade Mays, and Juice Scruggs are among their acquisitions ahead of the new league year March 11.
