Report: Chargers to sign RB Mitchell to 2-year, $9.25M deal
The Los Angeles Chargers will sign running back Keaton Mitchell to a two-year, $9.25 million deal, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
The new contract includes $5 million in fully guaranteed compensation, Pelissero adds. Mitchell hit the open market after the Baltimore Ravens chose not to tender him as a restricted free agent.
The 24-year-old had been with the Ravens since they signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He flashed big-play potential during his rookie campaign but later suffered a season-ending knee injury, which also cut into his 2024 season.
Mitchell suited up in 13 contests last season, posting 404 total yards and one touchdown on 68 touches. The East Carolina product holds a career 6.3 yards per carry average on 121 attempts over 26 games.
Los Angeles ranked 23rd in EPA/rush and 25th in rush success rate in 2025, according to Ben Baldwin's database. The Chargers' two leading rushers - Kimani Vidal and Omarion Hampton - remain under contract, while Najee Harris became an unrestricted free agent this week.
L.A. is set to enter its first season under new offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, whom head coach Jim Harbaugh hired after dismissing Greg Roman in January.
