Baltimore Ravens head coach Jesse Minter had a message for Diego Pavia after the quarterback signed with the organization as an undrafted free agent.
"So now he's in the door and it's like, 'Show us what you can do,'" Minter said at Baltimore's rookie minicamp, according to ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "And just like all the undrafted rookies, that's what I would say."
Minter added, "For us, we see it as an opportunity to bring a player in that could potentially be something, and that's really what this is for us."
Pavia participated in the Ravens' minicamp this weekend after signing a three-year deal on April 28. He's competing with former UConn signal-caller Joe Fagnano for the third-string quarterback role behind Tyler Huntley and starter Lamar Jackson.
The 24-year-old was one of the more polarizing players in college football during his two-year run as Vanderbilt's starting quarterback. He had a standout 2025 season with the Commodores, leading them to a program-record 10 wins while recording 4,401 total yards and 39 touchdowns.
Pavia was the Heisman runner-up behind Fernando Mendoza and made headlines after posting a photo on Instagram with the caption "F--K ALL THE VOTERS" with a thumbs-down emoji. Pavia later apologized for it.
Minter, who was hired to lead the Ravens in January, was the defensive coordinator at Vanderbilt in 2021 and is friends with Pavia's former head coach, Clark Lea.
"(Pavia has) had some experiences that are learning experiences that he could learn from and be better from. I don't think anybody would dispute that," Minter said.
"But when you talk to the people inside that building [at Vanderbilt] and what he's about as a player, he is showing up early every day and working really hard."
In addition to being the Heisman runner-up in 2025, Pavia earned the SEC Offensive Player of the Year and won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, presented to the nation's best upperclassman quarterback.
