The New York Giants are signing free-agent defensive tackle D.J. Reader to a two-year, $12.5-million deal that can reach $15.5 million with incentives, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo.

Reader reportedly visited the Giants in mid-April and was considered the top defensive tackle remaining on the open market.

The 31-year-old spent the last two seasons with the Detroit Lions following four years with the Cincinnati Bengals. Reader recorded 28 tackles and four quarterback hits last campaign and posted a career-high three sacks in 2024.

Reader's addition comes just weeks after the Giants traded Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals for the 10th overall pick in the 2026 draft, which New York used to select Miami offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa.

The Giants also signed veteran defensive tackle Shelby Harris last week.

Over 10 NFL seasons, Reader has amassed 328 tackles, 56 quarterback hits, and 12.5 sacks in 137 career games.
