The Indianapolis Colts cut defensive back Kenny Moore, the team announced Thursday.
Moore requested his release from the team, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The two sides reportedly mutually agreed to seek a trade in mid-April.
Indianapolis will save just over $7 million against its 2026 salary cap by releasing Moore, according to Spotrac. However, the move was linked to the veteran's fit within defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo's scheme rather than his cap hit, per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Moore, who joined the Colts as an undrafted free agent in 2017, has spent his entire nine-year career with the team. He played in 14 contests last season, recording 55 tackles, six passes defended, and one interception.
"(I) think very highly of Kenny - not only me personally but organizationally, and I know the city feels the same way," Colts general manager Chris Ballard said in April, according to team writer JJ Stankevitz. "At the end of the day, talking to him, he just felt like it was time for a change. Nothing much more than that."
Moore has posted 649 tackles and six forced fumbles in 132 career games. His 21 interceptions rank 11th in Colts franchise history.
