New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left Monday's 28-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter with a knee injury.
Dart is believed to have sustained a sprained MCL based on initial exams, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo. X-rays reportedly came back negative. The Giants signal-caller is expected to miss some time but will learn the full extent of his injury following an MRI on Tuesday.
"That's in the neighborhood of it," Giants coach John Harbaugh said of Dart's reported sprained MCL, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "We'll get an MRI and have a real good feel for it."
Dart, 23, went down after throwing a pass on third-and-8 on the Giants' first offensive possession. He clutched his left knee following the play, in which he got tangled with Rams defenders Josaiah Stewart and Byron Young. Dart spent time in the medical tent before heading to the locker room.
There's optimism within the organization that the injury won't sideline Dart long term. He watched most of the second half on the sideline.
"He's going to be OK," Giants general manager Joe Schoen told ESPN's Laura Rutledge.

Dart completed 3 of 5 passes for 20 yards on the Giants' opening drive. Jameis Winston replaced him at quarterback.
Dart entered Monday on the heels of an impressive showing in the Giants' season opener. He passed for 230 yards and three touchdowns in the team's 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Giants selected the Ole Miss product in the first round of the 2025 draft. Dart started 12 of 14 games as a rookie before suffering a concussion against the Chicago Bears in November. He threw for 2,272 yards, rushed for 487 yards, and accounted for 24 touchdowns last season.
