With the Washington Commanders losing 23-17 to the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, the NFC East became the first division since the AFL-NFL merger (1970) to go winless in consecutive weeks when all four teams played.

The NFC East collectively went 0-6-2 over the last two weeks. The Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles both lost back-to-back games, while the New York Giants and Commanders each went 0-1-1 because they tied in Week 5.

Philadelphia has lost four straight contests for the first time since 2020, when the franchise finished 4-11-1. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was ruled out for the rest of the season Monday after doctors discovered blood clots in his lungs.

Dallas started the campaign 2-2 but has since lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers in a pair of prime-time games. The Cowboys' offense has stalled recently, and their defense ranks last in yards allowed per play.

New York holds the division lead through six weeks, but a quarterback controversy looms after Jaxson Dart suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week 2. Head coach John Harbaugh hasn't yet announced who will start in Week 7 between Jameis Winston and J.J. McCarthy. The Giants benched Winston in Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints.

Here's an updated look at the NFC East standings following the Commanders' loss on Monday Night Football.

Rank Team W L T
1 Giants 3 2 1
2 Eagles 2 4 0
3 Cowboys 2 4 0
4 Commanders 1 4 1

The last time the NFC East winner had a losing record was in 2020, when the Commanders earned the division crown at 7-9. Two of the last four NFC South champions have finished with a losing record, including last year, when the Carolina Panthers won at 8-9.
