Fitzgerald restructures contract with Cardinals
Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Arizona Cardinals standout wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald agreed to restructure his contract to avoid his team from taking a big salary cap hit.
Fitzgerald sent a message via Twitter that he signed his restructured deal Tuesday after returning from the Super Bowl in East Rutherford, NJ.
Details of the new deal weren't released, but Fitzgerald's cap number was reportedly set for more than $18 million. The Arizona Republic reports the new deal lowers his salary cap number for the 2014 season by nearly $10 million.
Fitzgerald, who had 82 receptions for 954 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, was scheduled to make $12.75 million next season.
