Seahawks 'Fan 12' jersey a top-ten seller
One of the best-selling jerseys in the NFL doesn't feature the name or number of a player in the league. Rather, it represents an entire fan base.
According to ESPN's Darren Rovell, the No. 12 Seattle Seahawks jersey with "FAN" on the back nameplate was the NFL's 10th-best selling jersey last year.
Rovell notes that the Seahawks' run to the Super Bowl certainly influenced sales figures. He also points out that by putting the name "FAN" on the back rather than "MAN" allows the Seahawks to work around Texas A&M's ownership of the term "12th Man." (The Seahawks pay the university a reported $5,000 a year for limited rights to use the term, but the agreement doesn't allow the Seahawks to sell any merchandise featuring the term.)
Three other Seahawks jerseys are in the NFL's top ten: Russell Wilson (no. 1), Marshawn Lynch (No. 5) and Richard Sherman (No. 6).
