The New Orleans Saints agreed to a two-year contract extension with running back Pierre Thomas on Wednesday, according to his agent Lamont Smith.
Thomas led the team in rushing last season in the Saints' 'running back by committee' philosophy. However, his value in the passing game is crucial to their success.
The 29-year-old finished second in receptions behind only Jimmy Graham last year, leading the Saints' attempt to deal third-down back Darren Sproles this offseason.
