1995 - Eagles officially add Ricky Watters

Running back Ricky Watters officially joined the Philadelphia Eagles on this day in 1995, a week after signing an offer sheet with the team as a transition free agent.

Watters made three consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl as a member of the San Francisco 49ers the three previous seasons, but the 49ers were unwilling to match the Eagles' three-year, $6.9-million offer.

Despite a very poor showing in his first game with the Eagles, Watters went on to rush for 1,273 yards in his first season in green. In each of his three seasons with the Eagles, Watters topped 1,000 yards on the ground. Along the way, he famously bickered with offensive coordinator Jon Gruden and demanded more carries.

Watters departed for the Seattle Seahawks in 1998 and later became the first player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards for three different teams.
