Lloyd, who didn't play in the NFL last season, is said to be in talks with the 49ers about a possible return to the field, Matt Maiocco of csnbayarea.com reports

Analysis:

The 49ers continue to seek depth behind top wideout options Anquan Boldin and Michael Crabtree, and if Lloyd -- who will turn 33 in July -- enters the mix, he'd likely have a chance to compete (with the likes of Quinton Patton) for the team's No. 3 receiver gig. Lloyd -- was played for the 49ers from 2003-2005 -- caught 74 passes for 911 yards and four touchdowns in 16 games in 2012 for the Patriots, with the report noting that the wideout turned down several opportunities to play last season.
