Following reports that he was being actively shopped by the 49ers, LaMichael James sent out a series of tweets Wednesday suggesting he would be open to a trade out of San Francisco.

After writing, "When old news become new news," James proceeded to retweet messages of support from fans - one of which said the running back was in need of a fresh start

A former second-round pick of the 49ers, James figures to sit behind Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, and Marcus Lattimore on the depth chart this season.

As Matt Maiocco of CSNBayArea.com notes, the 49ers have also shown an interest in running back prospects Storm Johnson and Terrance West.

James, who will turn 25 in October, carried the ball just 12 times last season for 59 yards.
