Chris Culliver is being sued by a family accusing the San Francisco 49ers cornerback of threatening a 15-year-old with brass knuckles and using a racial slur prior to his March arrest for hit-and-run and weapons offenses.

Per NBCBayArea.com, the lawsuit - which seeks damages related to assault, battery, and emotional distress - was filed in Santa Clara County Superior Court on April 15 by Marc Santos and his wife, Angelica Cortez, on behalf of their 15-year-old son.

Culliver is charged with one felony count and two misdemeanors stemming from a March 28 incident in which he allegedly struck a bicyclist with his vehicle and then fled the scene. If convicted, he could face a prison sentence of up to three years.

The suit alleges that Culliver struck Santos' SUV on his escape, and later lunged his Mustang towards Santos' family, "holding his hand inside a bag" and pointing it at them "in a manner that suggested he was holding a gun" while shouting "profane and hostile epithets."

Culliver also took out brass knuckles, according to the suit, and threatened to hurt the Santos family if they did not move out of his way. A four-year-old and a two-month-old were also in the family's vehicle at the time of the incident.
