The Arizona Cardinals filled a hole at tight end by picking up Notre Dame's Troy Niklas with the 52nd pick in the second round.
Rob Housler managed just 39 catches from the tight end position last year, so adding Niklas should help Carson Palmer out.
Niklas, a former linebacker who was moved to tight end as a sophomore, had his breakout season as a junior with the Fighting Irish in 2013, making 32 receptions for 498 yards and five touchdowns.
The 6-foot-7, 270-pound behemoth is a gigantic target for quarterbacks in the red zone and, although he lacks the polish of a lot of other tight ends in this draft, could develop into a more than reliable receiver and blocker.
